III. CHARITY & OUTREACH
MINISTRY AREA

OMOS ST. VINCENT
de PAUL SOCIETY

The OMOS Conference of The St. Vincent de Paul Society provides emergency food boxes and other aid to the less fortunate within our parish area. These services are available without regard to religion, ethnicity or citizenship status. In a single month the Society often provides much needed food to over 600 people, including 300 children! The Society relies solely on the generous support of our parishioners and other benefactors. Food Drive Weekends are held four times a year and food and monetary donations are accepted at any time. Volunteers are always welcome! Please join us in this special ministry any Monday through Saturday, 9 AM till Noon, in the SVdP Office (NW corner of Parish Hall). Meetings are held Monday evenings, 7:15 PM.

CASA MARIA OUTREACH

Casa Maria is one of 175 Catholic Worker communities around the world committed to nonviolence, voluntary poverty, prayer and hospitality for the homeless. Brian Flagg has directed the Tucson Casa Maria's homeless shelter and Soup Kitchen for over two decades.

  • The Ladies Guild Casa Maria Group gathers regularly in the OMOS Parish Hall Kitchen to make sandwiches for the Casa Maria Shelter.  Look for announcements in the bulletin about our next gathering.  Everyone is welcome to come and help!

  • Each Tuesday during the school year one class at OMOS School is assigned to make lunches for Casa Maria. In addition to making lunches students pray for all those in need and learn about who the homeless are and what things contribute to people being homeless.

  • School Supplies are collected for Casa Maria on the Sundays in August at the Social Outreach/Social Justice kiosk. The school supplies are given to needy children who come to Casa Maria and who otherwise would not have the supplies they need for school.

  • Blankets, towels, and clothing for men, women and children are collected by the OMOS Confirmation students once a month from October through April to help those who rely on Casa Maria to meet their basic needs.

THE PRIMAVERA
GROUP

The Primavera Group meets regularly to make sandwiches to support the Tucson Primavera Foundation in supplying meals to the homeless. Volunteers are always needed and welcome.  Donations of peanut butter and jelly (commercial size) can be dropped off at the parish office at any time.  Look for announcements in the bulletin about our next gathering in the Parish Hall Kitchen for this important ministry. Thank you for your continued support!
